As Qatar Locks Up Kenya Journo Bidali Silence of Al Jazeera & UN Which Ban Inner City Press

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - CJR - PFT

UN GATE / SDNY COURT, May 18 – On press freedom, Inner City Press has repeatedly put written questions to the United Nations, where corrupt UN Secretary General Guterres has banned it 1051 days while issuing canned statements. No answers.

Now Qatar has locked up Kenyan labor rights and other issues blogger Malcolm Bidali  without charges. Nothing from the UN - and nothing from Qatar-sponsored Al Jazeera, whose UN rep James Bays worked with Guterres' Stephane Dujarric to get Inner City Press roughed up in June 2018, and again July 3, 2018 and banned since.

After Dujarric and Bays came out of a private "briefing" in the UN Press Briefing Room and Inner City Press covered and criticized it, Inner City Press was told by a UN staff member still to be named that Bays filed a complaint, and then that Dujarric would "make things more difficult for Mr. Lee." What followed was violence by DSS officer Ronald E. Dobbins and banning since. These people are a scam. Watch this site.

On Zimbabwe, on July 23, 2020 Inner City Press including on behalf of the Free UN Coalition for Access (FUNCA) formally submitted a question to United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric, as well as UNSG Antonio Guterres and his politburo:

"On Zimbabwe, what are the comments and actions if any of SG Guterres on that Hopewell Chin'ono, an award-winning Zimbabwean journalist and government critic, has been charged with incitement to violence in a magistrates' court in the capital, Harare. He did not enter a plea.  Prosecutor Whisper Mabhaudhi accused Mr Chin'ono of inciting Zimbabweans to join a planned anti-government protest during the coronavirus outbreak, which showed "no regard for human life." Mr Chin'ono's lawyers complained about the circumstances of his arrest on Monday and his stay in custody.  A video clip recorded at the journalist's house showed the remains of the glass door that police smashed in order to gain entry."

Dujarric refused to answer, and no one let into the UN's Zoom / WebEx noon briefing on July 23 and July 24, including Al Jazeera English's James Bays and SABC laughing about Mkapa, asked about Zimbabwe. Video here.

But on July 25 when Qatar royal family owned and controlled Al Jazeera reporting on Zimbabwe, it claimed the UN had strongly criticized Zimbabwe for locking up a journalist. This is intentional misinformation of the public, from a media which colluded with the UN to get the Press roughed up and banned from the UN.

Those contacted and still not responding despite the lifetime ban include, sadly, Haru Mutasa, Saad Abedine, the genial Gabriel Elizondo, Ragobeere, Kristen Saloomey who also declined to take as moderator a question from Inner City Press about Guterres getting a second term, which like the first AJE and Qatar seem to favor, Simon Tate and Gladys Njoroge. We'll have more on this.
