On Mozambique ICRC Speaks While Guterres of UN Refused Press Q on Missing Journalist There

By Matthew Russell Lee, CJR PFT NY Post

UN GATE, Dec 4 -- The lack of commitment to press freedom by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who has himself banned the critical Press which asks about his spending from the UN for 519 days and counting, has been on display, see below. Now on December 4 from ICRC, this: "Pretoria/Geneva (ICRC) – Armed violence in Mozambique’s northernmost province Cabo Delgado is forcing scores of people from their homes, destroying villages and health centres, and making it difficult for families to recover from Cyclone Kenneth, which hit the area in April 2019.    Attacks on Mozambicans have been recurrent in Cabo Delgado since 2017. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is concerned about the impact of the armed violence on displaced Mozambicans and their host communities, should this pattern continue.  “People in Cabo Delgado are suffering from two disasters: a cyclone, which wiped out homes and crops earlier this year, and armed violence,” said Patricia Danzi, ICRC’s regional director for Africa. “People have suffered two years of attacks on their villages, which has forced many to leave their houses and most of their belongings behind.”     In the last two years, hundreds of people have been wounded and killed, homes burned down, and property looted."

At the UN, where SG Guterres hides his financial links including to UN briber CEFC China Energy through Lisbon based Gulbenkian Foundation and lets his son Pedro go undisclosed business in the Lusophone world using the UN name, Inner City Press asked in writing: January 17-5: On press freedom, what is SG Guterres action on that Ghanaian journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale was killed tonight in Accra.  Ahmed was a committed and courageous colleague, instrumental in this year’s anasglobal investigation of international soccer corruption, after which he was viciously doxxed & threatened?" Four hours later, no answer at all, despite promises of answers from Guterres' Global Communicator Alison Smale to the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression David Kaye and by Guterres' spokesman Stephane Dujarric, on camera. Guterres' most recent Ghana connection was to use Kofi Annan's funeral as a pretext to spend public money flying with UN Security to his home in Lisbon, then to refuse to disclose the costs. Nor was there any answer on this question by Inner City Press about Lusophone Mozambique: "January 17-2: On Mozambique, what is SG Guterres action (beyond banning Inner City Press for 197th [now 518th] day) on that it's been 10 days since Amade Abubacar was arrested in Mozambique. He's being held incommunicado. Rights groups say there is a real risk of him being 'disappeared'?"  No answer at all. This is today's UN.
