SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 12 – Luis Alberto Pomboza
Chicaiza was working on a
scaffold at 356 East 8th
Street on the Lower East Side
on Christmas Eve 2015 when a
wall collapsing sent him
falling to his death.
Then Adam
Stein sued -- two years later.
The case,
against owner Ingrid House and
others, was removed to Federal
Court.
On May 12, 2020
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Lewis J. Liman held a
conference in the case, which
Inner City Press which has
reported on E 8th Street
doings for some time
covered.
Newspaper covered
of the death was referenced.
Ultimately the case was kicked
down the road, with expert
discovery not due until
October 26, 2020. If there is
a trial it was estimated to
take seven to ten days. For
the death of a man.
The case is
Golden Insurance Company v.
Ingrid House, et al.,
20-cv-1163 (Liman).
