Antony Blinken Is Sued For Discriminating Against Staff in Germany But Raises Venue

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell Book
BBC - Honduras - CIA Trial Book - NY Mag

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Sept 6 –  Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, has been sued for discriminating against his locally employed staff in Germany.

The case, filed in the U.S District Court for the Southern District of New York which Inner City Press covers daily since being ousted from the UN for uncovering corruption there, cites the Allegemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz, AGG, Germany's federal labor law, and says Blinken also "illegal discriminated against U.S. citizens in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA).

On August 29, Inner City Press called in to the US State Department briefing, at which in 2019 and 2020 it got answers, to ask questions.

But Deputy Spokesman Vendant Patel did not take Inner City Press' questions, while taking three questions from (Blinken's) Voice of America.

Blinken is trying to get the case transferred to the District for the District of Columbia - which Inner City Press also covers.

On September 5, the US State Department's filing with the Court stated, "The Government would like to raise the issue of venue."

The plaintiff on September 6 wrote to Judge Schofield that she has family residing near the SDNY, and has established positive contact with the SDNY's NYLAG program. She questions what prejudice SDNY venue would inflict on the State Department and Blinken - who is heading to the UN General Assembly in New York this morning, from which most independent Press is banned.

The case (for now) is Ohlund v. Blinken, 22-cv-1005 (Schofield)
