In Honduras Trial Ardon Describes $1M From Chapo To President Juan Orlando Who Replies

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon, Thread
Honduras - The Source - The Root - etc

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 8 – In the trial against the brother of Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, on October 7 government witness Alexander Ardon testified that he was present at a 2013 meeting in which the now-incarcerated drug trafficker Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman gave $1 million in cash for Juan Orlando Hernandez's presidential campaign.

The testimony, understandably, has created controversy in Honduras. And Juan Orlando Hernandez himself has taken to responding to news from the trial in real time.

For example, Inner City Press tweeted Ardon's direct examination, and then cross examination by defendant Juan Antonio Hernandez' lawyer Omar Malone. Juan Orlando Hernandez tweeted back, "If Ardon is claiming that somebody spoke to JOH about accepting money from him he is lying. That never happened. Not $1 million, not any amount, never, nobody."

Inner City Press has replied with a question, which as of the hour of this publication has yet to be answered. Instead, a variety of accounts many of them recently opened have responded with coordinated messages of support for Juan Orlando Hernandez. This is trial coverage in 2020. The case is US v. Juan Antonio Hernandez Alvarado, 15-cr-379 (Castel).

Inner City Press will continue to cover this and other SDNY and 2nd Circuit cases - watch this site, and there is more on Patreon, here.
