Trial For Gun Sales By Maisonet Will Be Set April 1 By Judge Rakoff

BBC - Decrypt - LightRead - Honduras - Source

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Jan 3 – Megan Maisonet, along with her husband Victor, is accused of selling guns for $750 apiece, mostly in The Bronx, from July 2019 to January 2020.

On February 19 Megan Maisonet appeared before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Jed S. Rakoff, who set the next conference for April 1.

Her CJA lawyer said she will be traveling in from Pennsylvania, so asked that it be at 3 pm. The prosecutor cited a medical appointment at 3:30, and so it was moved to 2:30 pm.

Her lawyer said he could imagine stipulating to facts with the prosecutor then arguing that as a matter of law she could not be a firearms trafficker. Judge Rakoff advised him to put it in a motion.

Back on January 28 Megan Maisonet had a bond hearing before SDNY Magistrate Judge James L. Cott.

Assistant US Attorney Domenic Gentile was agreeing to release on bond but wanted it delayed until January 30, so that arrangements for GPS monitoring could be made.

But reference was made to Maisonet's three children, and Judge Cott allowed her to be released on January 28, with the proviso that she called her assigned SDNY Pre-Trial Services officer daily until supervision is transferred to Pennsylvania.

The complaint in the case is complaint with photographs of the sold guns and ammunition, with AFT - NYPD Joint Firearms Task Force logo, and the specifics of the observed gun sales on Williamsbridge Road and Silver Street in The Bronx. The case was US v. Maisonet, 20-mj-312 (Cott); now it is US v. Maisonet, 20-cr-118 (Rakoff).
