Starbucks NY Roastery Shorted Shawmut Construction Triggering SDNY Suit

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - The Source

SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 24 – Starbucks hired Shawmut Design and Construction to build out its New York City "Starbucks Reserve New York Roastery and Tasting Room" on 9th Avenue across from the Chelsea Market.

Then Starbucks underpaid by more then $6 million.

On July 24 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Denise L. Cote held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.    Shawmut acknowledged that the COVID-19 lockdown hurt Starbucks and the location.

Still, they said, the money is owed. Now the case is placed on the July 2021 trial ready calendar, with depositions due of Liz Mueller, Jill Enomoto, Michael Amore and Jeff Tobin.

The case is Shawmut Woodworking & Supply, Inc. v. Starbucks Corporation, 20-cv-2289 (Cote)
