In SDNY Mag Court Steven Mitchell Is Detained on Guns Until Hearing With Judge Failla

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - The Source

SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 9 –    On July 9 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn held a proceeding on alleged Violations of Supervised Release by Steven Mitchell. He was arrested that morning, after being convicted in 2018 on gun charges. Inner City Press live tweeted it.

Judge Netburn: There are 5 "Specifications" - drugs and failure to report. There will be a hearing, date unknown, before Judge Failla (who sentenced him in 2018).

AUSA: "The government is seeking detention... He's on NYS parole on gun charges.

AUSA says defendant was found with crack, guns and body armor.

Federal Defender: These are Grade C violations. Let Judge Failla deal with these technical violations.

Judge Netburn: These are serious charges. I'm going to order the defendant detained, and ask Judge Failla to hold a hearing.

The case is US v. Mitchell, 13-cr-752 (Failla / Netburn)
