By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Sept 30 – In July 2012 Sixto Ortiz was indicted in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York as a felon in possession of a firearm, a Jiminez Arms J.A. -Nine 9mm caliber semi-automatic pistol.

Jump cut nine years to September 30, 2020 and Sixto Ortiz, with the same Federal Defender and the same prosecutor, in front of the same judge, Richard J. Sullivan - now on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals - appeared virtual on the CourtCall platform for a violation of supervised release proceeding.

Judge Sullivan said he could not simply release him, but was open to rehab.

He said he would set up an other CourtCall session for Monday, five days hence.   The AUSA said that might not be possible, that a week's notice must be given.

Judge Sullivan said, Not necessarily. Monday, October 5 was selected.

The case is US v. Ortiz, 12-cr-791 (Sullivan)
