Man With 9mm Magazine in Drawer Released To Engelwood NJ After Home Inspection

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell Book
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY MAG COURT EXCLUSIVE, April 7-  In the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on April 7, a detention or release proceeding was held by new Magistrate Judge Jennifer Willis on a man arrested with a magazine of 9mm ammunition in his drawer, with previous drug convictions.

The Assistant US Attorney asked that he be detained as a danger the community.

Inner City Press covers the SDNY Magistrates Court as it has The Bronx, sometimes as the only media in the gallery, as it was on April 7.

Inner City Press covered cases with Jennifer Willis as the Federal Defender, including her win on a gun case on Ogden Avenue in The Bronx.

In this case, after conferring with Pre-Trial Services, Judge Willis said defendant Carter (in a T-shirt emblazoned "Anti-Social Social Club") can be released after home inspection in Engelwood, NJ and the one moral suasion signature. There are to be two other financial responsible sureties, and a preliminary hearing in 21 days. He will be under home incarceration.

Judge Willis, affable as always, then conferred with the Marshals about the next case(s), 22-mj-3223.

This case is US v. Carter, 22-mj-3000 (Willis)
