Man Who Bragged of Coordinating Drugs In Pittsburgh Is Detained Amid SDNY Sealing Mention

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell Book
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY MAG COURT EXCLUSIVE, August 11 -  In the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on August 8, a detention or release proceeding was held by Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger on a defendant, Najera Barrios, charged with three kilos of cocaine and fentanyl in Pittsburgh. Inner City Press was there.

Najera Barrios is based in Arizona. The Assistant US Attorney emphasized he hasn't told his significant other he'd done to Mexico. But as Judge Lehrburger pointed out, that's near Arizona.

But ultimately Judge Lehrburger ordered the defendant detained, to be transported to the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Then the Assistant US Attorney said that since the defense would not consent to sealing the transcript - as happened recently before Magistrate Judge James L. Cott, despite and after Inner City Press' opposition - they would not ask for it to be sealed. So it is not.

Inner City Press, the only media in the SDNY Magistrates Court, will have more on this exclusive.

The case is US v. Najera Barrios, 22-mj-6422 (Lehrburger)
