Grease Gun on City Island Bridge Triggers Suit Imperial Ironworks Said To Withhold Policies

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - The Source

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Nov 2 –   Richard Sheerin was working the City Island Bridge in the Bronx on July 16, 2015 when he slipped on a discarded grease gun tube and was injured.

He sued, but defendant Tutor Perini Building Corp. removed the case to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

On May 27, SDNY Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave held a conference in the case, and Inner City Press covered it.

Judge Cave asked how many depositions - four or five - then scheduled a settlement conference for September.

Discussion devolved into COVID-19's pressure on the summer rental market, and the increase in orders for above-ground pools that could be removed after this cursed summer.

Now on November 2, after the summer such as it was, Judge Cave held another conference in the case. Imperial Ironworks, brought in, has allegedly not produced the policies at issue.
Tutor Perini has demanded the withholding of evidence and direct that Imperial [sic] counsel immediately provide the policies." Another conference has been set for November 20.

The case is Sheerin v. Tutor Perini Corporation et al.,18-cv-7952 (Carter / Cave).
