Man Waiting With Car For AAA Was Arrested So Sued NYPD Officer Flores on Military Leave

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Sept 17 – Jabbar Richardson was sitting in his 2010 Chevy Malibu on front of 2216 8th Avenue in Upper Manhattan on October 27, 2019, waiting for AAA, when NYPD officers arrested him.

He sued.

On July 23, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Judge Hellerstein asked why the case was still against John Does. The City had identified five of the officers. Judge Hellerstein said to amend the complaint with names.

A next conference was set for September 17.

And on September 17, Inner City Press again covered the case. It emerged that defendant Officer Pedro Flores is on military leave. Judge Hellerstein said his answer is due October 4 and there's to be another case management conference on April 1, 2022.

The case is Richardson v. City of New York et al., 21-cv-622 (Hellerstein)
