SDNY MAG COURT
EXCLUSIVE, Dec 1 - In
the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York on December 1, a
detention or bond proceeding
was held by Magistrate Judge
Stewart D. Aaron on a man
arrested in the morning after
being indicted for health care
fraud and aggravated identity
theft.
Inner City
Press was there, the only
media in the Mag Court.
The
defendant Michael Bufoleno was
appointed a Federal Defender.
The indictment says he
defrauded a federal employee
health insurance plan, and
used the names and identities
of relatives to do so, falsely
reporting that he and they had
received out of network
services and were entitled to
payments from the FEP.
There was
an agreed bail package: a
$100,000 unsecured bond,
travel restricted to SDNY and
EDNY, no new lines of credit
or bank account without
consent, etc. Buffaleno was
wearing shorts and a grey
sweatshirt. The assigned
District Judge, Andrew L.
Carter, has set a December 6
conference in the case.
The case is US v.
Buffoleno, 22-cr- 642 (Carter
/ Aaron)
