Jose Flores Detained On Gun and Drug Charges Flashing $5000 In Social Media Photos

BBC - Decrypt - LightRead - Honduras - Source

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 18 -- Jose Flores was presented and detained on consent on February 20, represented in Manhattan Federal court by Victor Hou of Cleary Gobblieb with the understanding he would get another lawyer due to an undisclosed conflict of interest.

On February 24 Flores appeared with counsel from Crowell & Moring, arguing to be released on bond. He was indicted with 11 others on narcotics and guns charges, including allegedly selling fentanyl around 194th Street and Valentine Avenue in The Bronx.

Assistant US Attorney Justin Rodriguez told U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave that Flores faces 20 years and was arrested at 6 am in a trap house where guns had been stored.

Flores' Crowell & Moring lawyer emphasized that Flores works part time as a maintainence worker. But AUSA Rodriguez presented a three page print out from Flores' social media, including photos of him waving $5000 in cash around.

After a recess, Judge Cave cited these photos, and the place of arrest, in denying release to Flores. His lawyer said that guns were not found in the search of the trap house. That was noted, but detention continues. The case is US v. Flores, 20-cr- 126 (Swain / Cave).
