Racist Graffiti in LaGuardia Airport Project By Magic Johnson Cited In SDNY Lawsuit

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 16 – Tony Duff, a 37 year old African American construction worker, was a laborer at the LaGuardia Airport reconstruction when he was confronted, he says, with racist graffiti and worse. He sued.

On February 16, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Ronnie Abrams held an oral argument on the motion to dismiss the first amended complaint. Inner City Press covered it.

The lawyer for defendant Pristine Services said there was no basis for the lawsuit, quoting from "WHITE POWDER" graffiti in the complaint, saying that was about cocaine. But there were worse statements on those walls.

The complaint recites how Governor Andrew Cuomo worked with Magic Johnson on MWBE inclusion in the the LGA reconstruction. Then, the graffiti.

The case is Duff v. Pristine Services, Inc. et al., 19-cv-10423 (Abrams)
