The Onion and Spanfeller Are Sued For Bias and Retaliation After Citing Madame C-Suite

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, March 2 – Katherine Pontius Ebel has sued the Onion, G/O Media and James Spanfeller for gender discrimination and retaliation.

On March 2, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Paul A. Engelmayer held a proceeding. Inner City Press live tweeted from it, here:

The Onion is being sued for gender discrimination and retaliation, after it was bought by private equity firm Great Hill Partners.

Katie Pontius has also sued James Spanfeller (who is quoted as telling her she would be "reporting to 'moi.'" Now defense lawyer is saying that Pontius never engaged in "protected activity."

Spanfeller is also quoted as asking / telling her, "How does that fell, Madame C-Suite?"   Complaint: "Plaintiff found this language patronizing and sexist."

Now lawyer: This is a straight-forward discrimination case.    Spanfeller is being sued by others as well.

This case is Pontius Ebel v. G/O Media, Inc. et al., 20-cv-7483 (Engelmayer)
