Furniture Shipped From Malaysia With Damage Triggers SDNY In Rem Suit Settlement Talks

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Nov 16 –   Orient Express Container Co sued the MV Nordmed for furniture sets damaged during sea passage from Tanjung Pelpas, Malaysia.

On November 16, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Lewis J. Liman held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

One of the parties said flatly this is not a big enough case to go do discovery in Malaysia.

During the November 16 conference the parties agreed to be referred for settlement talks to SDNY Magistrate Judge Katharine H. Parker, on December 18. That will be confidential and sealed to the press and public.

This case is OEC Group New York et al. v. MV Nordmed, her engines, boilers, etc. in rem et al., 20-cv-2791 (Liman / Parker)
