Photo of Meaghan Markle with Male Friend Led to  Lawsuit Against Yahoo Now Bid To Sever

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, March 12 –  Vicki Conrad shot a photo of Meaghan Markle at a Christmas themed event in 2017; she says it "depicts Ms. Markle and a male friend. Now she has sued Yahoo.

The case has been assigned to U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Gregory H. Woods, and Inner City Press is covering it.

Yahoo re-published Conrad's photo of Markle, "apparently through the process of embedding."

Yahoo for another photo credited Getty, but did not credit Conrad.

Yahoo, owned by Verizon, wants to move to dismiss. Conrad consents to the motion being filed, believing now that "the making the adjudication of the motion will likely advance the ultimate resolution of the case."

On February 4, Judge Woods held another proceeding, to discuss possible severance. Judge Woods agreed to grant a stay of discovery.

On March 12, the parties were back before Judge Woods and Inner City Press again covered it. Now, Plaintiff's opposition to the defendant's motion to sever is due March 15, while a motion to consolidate which was "embedded" in another motion has been withdrawn.

The case is Conrad et al v. Yahoo! et al., 20-cv-8638 (Woods)
