Man Sprayed In Manhattan Detention Center Sued Now Next Date In February 2022

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 16 – Peter Rodriguez was sprayed with a fire extinguisher in his cell in the Manhattan Detention Center on August 21, 2020. He sued.

On February 16, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Gregory H. Woods held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Rodriguez, who is representing himself, began by referring to misspellings and was told not to waste time in the conference on those.

But somehow he was given the wrong name in the complaint, Derek. He is, in fact, Luis. It was said this would be corrected.

On June 23, Judge Woods held another proceeding. He said he didn't remember how much he'd told Rodriguez about the process for such a case, then launched into it.

Judge Wood said fact discovery is due on December 2, and motions by February 16, 2022 with a status conference on February 1.

The case is Rodriguez v. City of New York et al., 20-cv-9840 (Woods)
