For Intl Court of Justice Dubious Tomka Fourth As Nigeria Blown Out Amid French Corruption

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - CJR - PFT

UN GATE, Nov 11 – In the UN's selection process for five judges of the International Court of Justice, here were the General Assembly results on November 11, with Nigeria's candidate getting blown out, and Peter Tomka getting fewer votes than candidates from Japan, Germany and China, with his history exposed by Inner City Press (for) now banned from the UN:

Iwasawa (Japan) - 161
Nolte (Germany) -150
Xue, Hanqin (China) -144
Tomka  (Slovakia) - 141
Sebutinde (Uganda) - 124
Ugirashebuja (Rwanda) - 97
Seršić (Croatia) 71
Elias, Taoheed (Nigeria) 56

Inner City Press live tweeted the process: Before being banned from the UN by corrupt SG Antonio Guterres, Inner City Press reported on ICJ Judge Peter Tomka of Slovakia, who "assured Security Council [then] member Colombia of a positive outcome in a pending case, by one judge prior to  voting and one judge just after, pointing at Tomka's opponent, from Bulgaria."

Inner City Press: "Judgeships on the ICJ are subject to a geographic understanding; Tomka's re-election was challenged by Tsvetana Kamenova of Bulgaria, which was said to still be angry about non-compliance with a deal to take over part of the term of judge from Poland who instead remained on the court until his passing with one year left in his third nine-year term.    As character witnesses Tomka has many diplomats in the UN, where he served from 1991 to 1997, including as Permanent Representative. The proposition that Tomka always rules in favor of Colombia is countered by his ruling against Colombia's position that Costa Rica should be able to intervene in the case, Territorial and Maritime Dispute (Nicaragua v. Colombia). All of this is duly noted, for the record."

In the UNSC on November 11, France will be a teller - their previous ICJ deal:

"In the run up to the election of six International Criminal Court judges set for New York in December, France offered to support a candidate found to be unqualified if his country would support the French candidate Bruno Cathala, Inner City Press has learned.    There are 19 candidates for the six ICC judge seats. They were reviewed by the Independent Panel on International Criminal Court Judicial Elections and four -- from Tunisia, Cyprus, Costa Rica and Mexico -- were found to be "unqualified."    The Panel's members include not only South African justice and international prosecutor Richard Goldstone, and ICTY and US judge Patricia Wald but also former top UN lawyer Hans Corell.    Nevertheless, when one of the "unqualified" candidates met with France to try to make his case, he tells Inner City Press that he was surprised to be offered a deal: that if his country committed to vote for the French candidate, he could count on France's vote.    France styles itself a champion of international criminal justice and accountability. But just as it asserted itself to place atop UN Peacekeeping" ... Lacroix.

Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jun, who blocks Inner City Press on Twitter, demands to know why he has to leave the UNSC chamber while waiting for UNGA voting results (on his candidate Xue, Hanqin).

St Vincent and the Grenadines  has a shaky answer - and is colluding in banning Inner City Press from the UNSC, unlike retirees and state media. We'll have more on this.
