On Tunisia US Expresses Concern But UN Refuses to Answer Press Q Under Guterres

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

UN GATE, July 26 – Amid what some are calling a coup in Tunisia, Inner City Press on the morning of July 26 in writing asked UN Spokespeople Farhan Haq and Melissa Fleming (Stephane Dujarric is on a third week of vacation) the following question:

"On Tunisia, what are the comments and actions if any of SG Guterres on that Tunisia's president has sacked the PM and suspended parliament, after violent mass protests nationwide on Sunday.  Anger over the government's handling of a massive recent spike in Covid cases has added to general unrest over the nation's economic and social turmoil.  President Kais Saied, who was elected in 2019, announced he was taking over."

But Farhan Haq refused to answer that question, as he has for days refused to answer Inner City Press' written request for if-asked information he has about new UN rapes, including a child rape in DRC. This as Antonio Guterres bans Inner City Press for the 1220th day. His UN has become a corrupt cover-up.

Later the US State Department said: "The United States is closely monitoring developments in Tunisia.  We have been in contact with Tunisian government officials to stress that solutions to Tunisia’s political and economic troubles should be based on the Tunisian constitution and the principles of democracy, human rights, and freedom.  We have been clear in urging all parties to avoid taking any actions that could stifle democratic discourse or lead to violence.  We are particularly troubled by reports that media offices have been closed and urge scrupulous respect for freedom of expression and other civil rights.  Tunisia must not squander its democratic gains.  The United States will continue to stand on the side of Tunisia’s democracy."

But what has the US State Department and US Mission done about Guterres' censorship? Watch this site.
