UN GATE, Dec 1 –
With India taking over
presidency of the UN Security
Council on December 1, 2022,
on November 30 Inner City
Press wrote to the India
Mission to the UN to request
in advance access to its
December 1 press conference by
Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj.
To submit
the request, Inner City Press
wrote to one of the India
Mission to the UN email
address listed by its
purported partner,
"india_general [at] indiaun
[dot] net
So India
is taking over the UN Security
Council tomorrow, amid its
failures on the Black Sea
Grain Initiative and
peacekeepers' rapes -- and
this address bounced back, and
the others did not
answer:
sc1.pminy
[at] mea.gov.in,
media.newyorkpmi [at]
mea.gov.in, india@un.int
World's
largest democracy, and its UN
Mission can't answer its mail.
Not an
auspicious beginning. Nor was
the December 1 briefing, with
repetitive questions about
Security Council reform, a
dodged one on press freedom,
and a lame on - with no
mention of human rights or
deaths in Qatar of migrant
workers, including from India
- about the World Cup. Video here;
Program of Work here
- watch this feed.
Inner City
Press asked the India Mission,
and the UN, about the MONUSCO
scandal - sex for UN Volunteer
jobs paid with taxpayers'
funds - in the DRC Congo.
Inner City Press exclusive here.
And new UN child rapes data
dumped on November 30 -
nothing.
This while
Inner City Press is banned
from entry, which it had for
years until it exposed UN
corruption. No response to this
appeal. Impunity.
Inner City
Press will be covering the
India presidency, quite
actively, this month.
Our
requests and questions remain;
we will publish any responses,
and also on non-responses.
