As Inner City Press Asks
IMF of Kenya Report They Say
Public If Government Consents
by
Matthew Russell Lee
NYC,
July 3–
When the IMF held its biweekly
embargoed press briefing on
July 3, Inner City Press was
able to ask the Fund's
spokesperson Julie Kozack
about Kenya:
"On Kenya and the
IMF's diagnostic mission, can
you provide any initial
feedback or read-out, and
specifically does the IMF
expect the report to be made
public? Treasury Cabinet
Secretary John Mbadi has said
'from where I sit, I didn't
see what that should not be
made public.'"
Ms. Kozack
replied that the report will
be given to the government by
the end of the year, and would
be made public (only) on the
government's consent. She
suggested to stay on it - and
Inner City Press will.
Other wire
service questions on July 3
included the US "Big Beautiful
Bill" and tariffs set to kick
in on July 9, including on Sri
Lanka, Bangladesh and the
Maldives.
Previously
Ms. Kozack's
replies
included that
the timing on
Egypt hasn't
changed, that
a list of
countries in
governance
review will be
provided - and
it was, here,
including
Cameroon
