SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Jan 14 – A defendant charged
with having a Derringer pistol
after conviction for a felony
was presented on January 14 in
the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Magistrates Court. Inner
City Press was there.
William Suarez, until the
day's other Mag Court
presentees, had retained
counsel, who pushed back
against a request for mental
health treatment as a
condition of release on bond.
Magistrate Judge
Gary Stein agreed, declining
to impose the condition which
he said was based on something
in a 2004 pre-sentencing
report.
Suarez was
released on $50,000 bond and a
curfew enforced by location
monitoring.
The case is USA
v. Suarez, 1:24-cr-682
