Man Who Jumped Out 2d Story Window to Flee Arrest With Fake ID Detained as Flight Risk

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 25 – A man who jumped out a second story window to flee arrest in an apartment with stolen Treasury checks, a fake ID laminating machine and a loaded gun was ordered detained on February 25 as a flight risk. Inner City Press was there.

US District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Henry J. Ricardo viewed defendant Garcia on the screen of the Federal Defender's smart phone.

Garcia was in the hospital with a fractured shoulder, on a six week liquid diet, from the fall.

The AUSA described previous arrests, a "letter to Judge Torres in this case," and a deceased man whose identity was being used. Judge Ricardo ordered Garcia detained as a flight risk.

The case has been USA v. Garcia, 1:19-cr-187 (Torres / Ricardo)
