Another Defendant Detained in Drug Case of Man Presented in August Now Motions Jan 20

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 22 – One defendant was arrested on August 23 for having sold drugs, with a co-conspirator, to an undercover NYPD officer on August 8. He was assigned a Federal Defender, and was detained.

On September 23, he and the co-conspirator were indicted, and the case brought into the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrates Court, where Inner City Press was the only media.

Magistrate Judge Katharine H. Parker wheeled the indicted case out, to District Judge Lorna G. Schofield, who then issued an order for a joint letter with schedule for discovery and three dates for a status conference.

On October 22 the US Attorney's Office wrote in that defendant Reyes was added to the case and detained without prejudice. They propose motions due January 20, noting that it has five devices from Chavez, and others from Rivera to be produced to him by October 28.

The case is USA v. Chavez, et al., 1:24-cr-554 (Schofield)
