SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 14 – Walter Valdivia was
sentenced to 33 month
imprisonment in Pennsylvania
for having a sawed-off
shotgun. The court recommended
he "be allowed to serve his
sentence proximal to his
family in the Bronx,
NY."
On
September 14, 2023, Valdivia
was brought by US Marshals
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Magistrate Judge Sarah L.
Cave. Inner City Press was
there.
The Federal
Defender was arguing that
Valdivia should be released on
bond. Judge Cave noted that he
is scheduled to appear before
the assigned District Judge
Valerie E. Caproni on
September 20.
She told the
Federal Defender to get the
transcript and inform Judge
Caproni that if he is
released, she is willing to be
the type of hands-on presence
she is in the lives of other
defendants, initially mostly
from District Judge Richard M.
Berman but not others.
But for
now, Valdivia remains
detained.
The case is US v.
Valdivia, 23-cr-461 (Caproni /
Cave)
