SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 15 – Christopher Peoples,
Malcolm Reasonover, Gerald Lee
and four others are indicted
for a wire and bank fraud
conspiracy. It is alleged that
they bought stolen identities
and then looted people's
money.
On
September 15, there was a
proceeding before U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Valerie E. Caproni. Of
the defendants, only Gerald
Lee was present in the
courtroom, where Inner City
Press was. The others were on
the phone.
Reasoner answered
"present," then when Judge
Caproni asked, Is Demetrius
Torry on the call? Reasonover
answered, "How should I know?"
Those in
the courtroom, mostly the
defense lawyers, laughed.
Discovery problems were
discussed and a next
conference set for December 8
at 10:30 am. Again, defendants
not living in New York are
permitted to attend by phone.
The case is
US v. Peeples, et al.,
23-cr-144 (Caproni)
