SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 14 – George
Benn sued the
City of New
York and NYC
Corrections
Officer for
what he says
was an assault
in his cell on
Rikers Island
on February
19,
2015.
On May 12,
2023, U.S.
District Court
for the
Southern
District of
New York Judge
Jennifer L.
Rochon was
presiding over
the trial.
Inner City
Press went and
covered it.
Benn's counsel
was showing
him video from
February 19,
2015. Heavily
armored
corrections
officer went
into the cell.
But due to the
way they
stood, punches
were not
visible.
Later
on May 12, the
City's defense
lawyer cross
examined him
about his
medical
records,
having not
said his
injuries came
from
officers.
The
case is Benn
v. Morrison,
et al.,
18-cr-722
(Rochon)
