SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Sept 5 – A man who stopped
reporting to Probation in New
York last November was
arrested on August 2 in Maine.
On September 5 he was brought
by US Marshals before U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Valerie
Figueredo. Inner City Press
was there, the only media in
the SDNY Mag court.
Probation
emphasized that that he had
absconded; the prosecutor said
this made him a risk of
flight.
After taking a
break to consider, Judge
Figueredo agreed, and ordered
him detained.
The District
Judge, Valerie E. Caproni -
who adjourned an August 21
conference, when the transport
from Maine wasn't accomplished
by that time - will see him on
September 24 at 2:30 pm.
The case is
US v. Bueno, 18-cr-389
(Caproni / Figueredo)
