SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
May 14 – A man arrested as a
felon in possession of a
firearm came to plead guilty
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Magistrate Judge Robert
W. Lehrburger. The complaint
against him has a black and
white photo of the gun at
issue in the snow on a Bronx
sidewalk back in
February.
He pled
guilty and sentencing was set
for January 15, 2025 before
District Judge Jesse M.
Furman.
After the plea, a
group visiting from Japan
filled one side of the Mag
court gallery - Inner City
Press was on the other side -
and listened as Judge
Lehrburger explained the
process of the court. He was
told there are no jury trials
in criminal cases in Japan -
and that this was the second
most exciting part of the
visitors' day, the first being
if they could see "Puff
Daddy," due upstairs at 2 pm.
On March 12
Federal Defenders wrote in
asking for 36 months.
On May 14,
Reshard was sentenced to 50
months with credit for time
served at Rikers Island.
The case is
USA v. Reshard, 1:24-cr-392
(Furman / Lehrburger)
