SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
June 23 – A defendant arrested
with nine kilos of fentanyl
and a gun in 25 Bruckner in
The Bronx was on April 24
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Valerie E. Caproni.
Inner City Press was there,
the only media in this SDNY
courtroom.
The
Federal Defender said he would
be making substantial motions.
Judge Caproni
remarked that she often hears
that, and told counsel to hold
on their calendars for trial
Ocober 27 (a date she was to
mention to another defendant
later in the day - many
criminal cases result in
guilty pleas, but not all).
On June 23 the
Federal Defenders asked for
more time to file motions,
citing discovery only provided
that day. Judge Caproni
extended motions to August 15
and said if they are filed
"the Court will likely adjourn
the trial to
mid-December."
This case
is USA v. Vasquez, 1:25-cr-89
(Caproni)
