SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 20 – Andrew
Sandson was
charged with
robbing banks
and a Verizon
store in
midtown
Manhattan. He
appeared on
June 1 before
U.S. District
Court for the
Southern
District of
New York Judge
John P.
Cronan. Inner
City Press was
there.
The
complaint has
a photo of a
note that
Sandson used:
"We have a
member of the
branch
manager's
family - we
demand $10,000
- no dye packs
- Give us the
money now! Do
not hit
alarm!"
He had done it
before, and
now came to
plead guilty,
with criminal
history
ranking of 5.
On
November 6,
his Federal
Defender wrote
in seeking a
sentence of 36
months to be
served in a
Federal
Medical
Center,
specifically
Devens.
On
November 20,
Inner City
Press went to
his
sentencing. It
was his 63rd
birthday, he
said, and said
he was ready
to move on
with his life.
Judge Cronan
said if he'd
known it was
Sandson's
birthday he
would have
chosen another
day. He
sentenced him
to 60 months,
or five years.
The
case is US v.
Sandson,
22-cr-402
(Cronan)
