COURTHOUSE,
Feb 10 – In late 2023 Niranjan
Mittal, a Brooklyn-based
cardiologist, was indicted in
connection with a scheme to
fabricate patient records, pay
physicians for patient
referrals, and bill for
medically unnecessary vascular
procedures.
On February
10, 2025 he had a conference
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Ronnie Abrams.
Inner City Press was there:
This was listed
as a status conference, but
Inner City Press heard more.
And yes, he is pleading guilty
to Count 4. Four prosecutors
here, two agents - and Inner
City Press.
Mittal says he is 72 years
old. US Attorney's
Office's plea agreement has
guideline of 30 to 37 months -
no appeal if he gets 37 months
or below.
Sentencing
is set for May 30 at 2:30 pm.
The case is
USA v. Mittal, 1:23-cr-648
(Abrams)
