SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Oct 17 – There was a shooting
in front of 2001 University
Avenue in The Bronx on
September 16, 2023. It was
preceded by the person to
become The Shooter having a
long metal object swung at his
head. He returned with a gun
and opened
fire.
Glen
Gilliard was arrested, based
on a Lobby Photo, and was
presented in the U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrates court, which Inner
City Press exclusively covers,
on January 18, 2024 and
detained based on "failure to
adhere to past
conditions."
On January
30, his case was indicted and
assigned to District Judge
Gregory H. Woods.
On February 1,
Judge Woods held the
arraignment, and read the
indictment to Gilliard. The
AUSA said it is all on
video...
On May 8 he pled
guilty. In July, the
then-Assistant US Attorney
wrote in that for sentencing
questions, "the only evidence
either party wishes to submit
is the video surveillance of
the shooting in question."
On August 26
Judge Woods issued an order
that the videos submitted are
"not sufficient."
Jump cut to
October 7, when the US
Attorney's Office wrote in
asking for 108 months.
On October 17,
Gilliard was sentenced to 51
months.
The case is US v.
Gilliard, 24-cr-56 (Woods)
