SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Aug 14– Planned Parenthood has
been sued for racial
discrimination by its former
senior video producer Shirley
Cruz. Among other claims, she
says Planned Parenthood
"tokenized" her, forcing her
to translate then calling her
work product "too NYC
street."
Her
complaint describes seemingly
ham-handed DEI and
"Communications and Culture"
retreats, one of which
"included a Venn diagram
showing a spectrum of racial
identities; employees were
asked to point to where they
identified themselves on the
diagram."
On August
14, outgoing U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrate Judge James L. Cott
held a conference and set
deadlines: December 20 for
fact discovery, pre-trial
motions by April 14.
He noted
that he will be retiring from
the SDNY court this Friday
(August 16) and that a
successor Magistrate Judge
will be picking up the case.
The case
is Cruz v. Planned Parenthood
Federation of America, Inc.,
et al., 23-cv-10932 (Woods /
Cott)
