SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Dec 27 – A defendant who was
released from prison on
December 6, then was arrested
for shoplifting from a Target
story on 14th Street in
Manhattan was arraigned on
December 27 before U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Gregory H. Woods. Inner
City Press was there, the only
media in the SDNY Mag court, thread:
Judge is
arraigning a detained
defendant, in MDC jail tan
jumpsuit, on alleged
violations of supervised
release. Judge: I
understand you wish to plead
guilty today and proceed
immediately to sentencing?
Defendant:
I do.
AUSA: We do not
object. AUSA: He was released
from his last Federal prison
term on December 6. On Dec 17
he was arrested stealing from
a Target store on 14th Street.
Judge: I
sentence you to 21 days in
prison. Probation
is to look for an in-patient
drug rehab bed during that
time.
The overall case
is US v. Billups, et al.,
15-cr-454 (Woods)
