SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
April 11 – DOJ announced that
GHISLAINE BARRIENTOS, a former
corrections officer, pled
guilty today to bribery in
connection with her
participation in a scheme to
accept bribes in exchange for
smuggling narcotics into
Rikers
Island.
Inner City Press was there,
the only media in the
courtroom as BARRIENTOS pled
guilty before U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Gregory H. Woods.
The
AUSA described drug sniffing
dogs finding narcotics-soaked
paper, and did not object to
the defending remaining free
on bond. She is scheduled to
be sentenced on April 16,
2025.
On April 2 her
Federal Defense wrote in
asking for time served. On April
she herself wrote in, that she
had been harassed by other
officers, or they would harass
the inmates to react "so that
the house would flip on me."
The case is
USA v. Barrientos, 1:25-cr-8
(Woods)
