Man Found Guilty
For Gun as Fled Police in the
South Bronx Now Gets 33 Months
in Prison

Feb 14 – A man is on
trial charged with having a
gun as he ran from police in
the South Bronx, after having
previously been convicted of a
felony. Inner City Press went
to cover the trial on
September 19.
NYPD
Officer Washington narrated
her and her partner's body cam
video as they drove the wrong
way on East 140th Street by
Brook Avenue, chasing the
defendant. Then, video a
school yard, with a gun on the
ground. The arrest, on shaky
cam.
As has
happened in many other U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
after the Supreme Court's
Bruen decision, a motion to
dismiss on Second Amendment
grounds was made, back in
March - and was denied.
On September 20,
the trial got into DNA. Thread

On December 11
the US Attorney's Office wrote
in asking for 33 months.
On December 26,
defense counsel wrote in say
his client wants a new CJA
lawyer (this current counsel
is leaving for a national
non-profit, moving out of
state of December 19) -
Judge Rochon
denied the request to adjourn/
Sentencing
began on January 30, 2025 but
was put over to February 14.
On February 10 his lawyer put
in a redacted supplemental
letter, saying his prior
counsel did not review the PSR
with him.
Inner City Press
went on February 13:
Defense: My
client has been in MDC
Brooklyn for 18 months. We are
asking for a sentence of time
served. He regrets some of his
life decisions. He was dragged
by a car for blocks when he
was 13
He was
sentenced to 33 months - which
will be minus the 18 already
served, in Fort Dix if
possible.
