May 15 – Fordham
University's
Oswaldo Hugo
Benavides has
been sued for
sexual
harassment, by
his mentee
Julius
Bowditch.
Inner
City Press,
which covered
the U.S.
District Court
for the
Southern
District of
New York,
found the
Complaint in
the docket
there.
Bowditch
recounts how
Benevides as
the chair of
the Department
of Sociology
and
Anthropology,
targeted him
as an adjunct
professor -
including
groping his
groin on the
subway.
Then
at a dinner
celebrating
Fordham's TRAC
grant,
Benevides
suggested they
continue
drink. It let
to an assault,
the complaint
states.
