SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 9 – Franklyn and Fausto
Almonte were up for sentencing
for cocaine importation,
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Lewis on November
9, 2023. Inner City Press was
there.
The AUSA
called their scheme
"sophisticated." Defense
counsel counter that it
consisted of putting cocaine
in FexEd boxes and covering it
with coffee grounds.
Fausto was portrayed as having
gotten his brother Franklyn,
and a cousin already sentenced
to five years, involved. He
got 10 years, and Franklyn got
seven.
The case is
US v. Almonte, 21-cr-496
(Liman)
