COURTHOUSE,
Aug 7 – A man who after a
felony conviction fired a gun
into the lobby of his building
in The Bronx was up for
sentencing on August 7 before
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Lewis J. Liman. Inner
City Press was there.
The
firing was caught by
ShotSpotting near Ryer Avenue
and 18rd Street in The Bronx
on January 28, 2024. The shell
casings were found.
On April
25 he pled guilty. His Federal
Defender on July 25 emphasized
that since he has been in MDC
on a writ, he has received
zero credit on his Federal
sentence.
Judge
Liman, after a break, said he
would have sentenced him to 27
months, but instead imposed 22
months.
The case
is US v. Mejias, 24-cr-149
(Liman)
