SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
May 23 – A man who was a
Rikers Island corrections
officer from 2017 through 2021
has been indicted for filing
false workers compensation
claims for use of force
incidents that never
occurred.
On May 23
he was before U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lewis J. Liman. Inner City
Press was there, the only
media in the
courtroom.
The AUSA
said that some of the
discovery must be protected,
for example "surveillance
video of detained
individuals."
The
defense lawyer, retained, said
it was a simple case and he
might not file any motions. He
asked that one of his client's
bond co-signed be allowed to
sign in the Central District
of Florida; granted.
Judge Liman set a next
conference for July 14 at
noon.
The case
is US v. Concepcion,
1:25-cr-217 (Liman)
