Man Charged With Guns and Drugs After Illegal Reentry Says There Is More Discovery in SDNY

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, May 23 – A defendant who was deported to the Dominican Republic in 2019 after a drug conviction has been arrested again in The Bronx, after a DEA raid on two apartments found fentanyl, a press, weapons and ammunition.

On May 23 he was before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Lewis J. Liman. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the courtroom.

The Federal Defender says there is more discovery to turn off. The AUSA said a search in ongoing, and that a Pimentel letter has been extended, with an estimated penalty.

Judge Liman said all discovery is due by June 20, and set a next conference for July 24. The defendant remains detained.

The case is US v. Alvarez-Antigua, 1:25-cr-81 (Liman)
