SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 2 – Cuba
Gooding, Jr.
faces a civil
trial for
allegedly
violating
NYC's Victims
of
Gender-Motivated
Violence
Protection Law
in Soho's
Mercer Hotel.
The
female
plaintiff has
been
anonymous, as
"Doe" - but at
the June 1
final
pre-trial
conference
Gooding's
lawyer said
her real name
not once but
twice, along
with
information
about her
bankruptcy
filing that
otherwise
identifies
her. See
below.
After
that oral
argument,
Gooding's
council filed
with the court
citing Rapp v.
Fowler (Kevin
Spacey) as
"observing
that stigma
and
significant
reputational
damage to
defendants
accused of
sexual assault
increase when
plaintiffs
proceed
against them
anonymously) -
and so,
seeking to
"unmask."
Inner
City Press
covered the
final
pre-trial
conference,
thread here
Gooding's
lawyer not
only twice
said Jane
Doe's real
name - he
described in
detail her
Alabama
bankruptcy
filings.
