COURTHOUSE,
June 18 – A man who pled
guilty to his role in a drug
gang in Washington Height,
which sold at least 49 grams
of fentanyl to undercover
police officers, and was
estimated at 9,738 grams, was
up for sentencing on June 18
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Jennifer L. Rochon.
Inner City Press was there,
the only media in the
courtroom.
Probation recommended 96
months in prison, below a
guideline of 168 to 210
months.
The
defense noted the long
struggle against
disproportionately long drug
conspiracy sentenced, and
asked for the 60 month
minimum, in which the US
Attorney's Office
concurred.
After a
break, Judge Rochon returned
and imposed the 60 month
minimum. The defense requested
self-surrender with Fort Dix
recommended.
The case
is USA v. Santos, 24-cr-376
(Rochon)
