Calzone Knockoff Panzerotti Bites Sued For Theft of Trade Secrets Now Counterclaims

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, May 8 – Panzerotti Bites of Brooklyn has sued I Love Panzerotti NY, LLC for appropriating its image on its signage.

On March 5, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Panzerotti Bites explains that panzerotti "is similar to calzone but different in significant ways." Its owners had to submit their business plan to DHS to get E-2 bites.

Now they say their lawyer stole their information. Judge Hellerstein set a next proceeding for May 7.

And when that happened, the entire case was pushed into May 2022, for a jury trial if the panzerotti controversy remain a live one: "CIVIL CASE MANAGEMENT PLAN: The case is to be tried to a jury. Amended Pleadings due by 10/31/2021. Joinder of Parties due by 10/31/2021. Discovery due by 5/6/2022. Case Management Conference set for 5/20/2022 at 10:00 AM before Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein. So Ordered. (Signed by Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein on 5/7/21)."

On October 29, I Love Panzerotti filed counter-claims, including that Panzerotti Bites of Brooklyn doctors receipts with a fake Square copyright, using Adobe Photoshop. It charges Fraud Upon the Court.

The case is Lattanzio & De Ruvo Corp. v. I Love Panzerotti NY, LLC, 20-cv-2080 (Hellerstein)
