SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 6 – Miguel Junior Montero
Estrella has been indicted for
an April 26, 2023 armed
robbery and brandishing of a
gun. He was arrested on the
indictment on August 28.
On August 29, he
appeared before U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrate Judge Robert W.
Lehrburger. Inner City Press
was there.
The
barebones indictment charged
that the defendant "knowingly
entered the residence of a
business owner, threatened her
and her family with a firearm,
and obtained by force proceeds
from the business."
[A man by the
same four names obtained a PPP
loan, in Orlando, in 2021.]
The
Assistant US Attorney asked
that he be detained pending
trial.
The Federal
Defender said he consented to
detention.
Jump cut to
January 8, 2025 when the
Federal Defender wrote in
asking for the minimum, seven
years, when he is sentenced on
February 6.
On January 24 the
US Attorney's Office wrote in
asking for the same sentence,
seven years.
On February 6 he
got just that: seven years,
then two years of supervised
release.
The case
is US v. Montero Estrella,
23-cr-435 (Buchwald /
Lehrburger)
