SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 5 – Damian Matos was
sentenced to 43 months in jail
and supervised released for
being a felon in possession of
a firearm.
On
September 5, 2023 Matos was
brought before U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrate Judge Valerie
Figueredo on violations of
supervised release. Inner City
Press was there, the only
media in the SDNY Mag
court.
The AUSA got
graphic, quoting Matos telling
"the mother of his child 's*ck
my d*ck, your son is
retarded."
The defense
lawyer retorted that it wasn't
Matos' son, and that the
complainant has a Nest door
camera.
But after
the AUSA spoke of
strangulation and beating with
an open fist, Judge Figueredo
found a danger to the
community and ordered
detention.
She mentioned a
nexus between the attack on
the woman and the Bronx
building where Matos'
grandmother lives. The defense
lawyer, after the ruling,
disputed the nexus. But
detention continues, at least
until the District Judge is
seen.
